North American Comhaltas in Chicago April 20-24

The 2017 North American Comhaltas Convention will be held in Chicago during April.

The North American Comhaltas, or Irish Music and Dance Convention, will be hosted this year by the Murphy Roche Irish Music Club at the Hilton Northbrook, just a few minutes from O’Hare airport in Chicago. The convention is held in a different location each year. The gathering will begin with a Ceili on Thursday, April 20 and will conclude with a  Package Brunch, Set Dance Workshop, and Farewell Ceili after Irish Mass on Sunday, April 24.

In between, Liz Carroll will be featured at a banquet, to be followed by dinner and dancing. There will be ceilis and sessions galore, and lots of workshops, with 4 Junior Entertainer tracks and 4 Adult Musician tracks. Set dancing will keep you on your feet well into the evening. There will also be the usual amenities of a luxury hotel, and organizers expect the entire facility to be booked for the Convention.

Some local Irish musicians may have met Joe Martin at the Irish Snug session when he was in town, and he invites everyone to join their session at Murphy Roche any time they’re in Chicago.
